However, I would recommend that you replace the key lock if you’re sure someone stole your keys for the safety of the ATV.

If you are still unsure if you should replace the lock of your ATV or bike, here are some important questions you should ask yourself to help you understand whether you need to replace the lock or not.

I usually recommend that you have alternative screws you will need in reserve.

6. Not enough fluids get into the main cylinder

Another thing that could be the reason your brakes are bleeding is that there is not enough fluid entering the main cylinder.

Usually, the reason for this is that the plunger inside is small, which greatly limits the amount of fluid entering into the main cylinder.

7. Too much weight on the brakes

Another reason why the brakes are bleeding could be that the amount of weight and gravity is too heavy on them.

In fact, this heaviness is mainly because of liquids in the way. To take out the liquid and reduce the weight on the brakes you need to do the following:

• First of all, remove the brake fluid cover.
• Put a pot or a lid underneath so that all the liquid falls into it.
• Open the valves so that the liquid comes out of the brake fluid.
• Leave it alone for 15 minutes to let the liquid drip out.
• Add liquid to make the liquids drip faster.
• And after that, you have to see if any more fluid is coming out.
• After the liquid has stopped coming out, put everything back in place, and tighten the valves.
• If no liquid is released this means that you do not have a problem of heavy load and weight on the brakes

8. Clogged brake line

If you have an ATV for many years, the chances are that your brake lines are blocked from waste and manure that has accumulated over the years.

You need to release the blockage to remove the waste from the valve.

To do this, try disconnecting the connector from the main cylinder head and pulling the brake so that the cylinder will work.

Why is it important to fix bleeding brakes?

It is very important to repair and replace bleeding brakes because if you ignore the problem and don’t replace them, it can cause huge damage to your brake system and even destroy it.

How to replace bleeding brakes

If one of the reasons I showed you is not the problem, it means you’ll have to buy new brakes and replace them instead.

But how do you replace the brakes?

Well, I’ll show you.

Before you start taking out your bleeding breaks, you’ll need this equipment;

• Screws
• Screwdriver
• ATV stand

Step 1

First, put out the emergency lock so that your tires do not roll. The brake is located next to your handbrake. Just get it out of place.

Step 2

While your machine still sits on the ground you have to loosen all the nuts that are on the wheels. To do this, you need a wrench. It is essential not to loosen the nuts completely at this time.

Step 3

Now you have to lift the ATV from the ground using an ATV stand. Once your ATV is above the ground, you have to remove all the tires and screws so that you have access to the brake.

The caliper on most of the service models has a guard.

You will need to remove it so that you have full access to the clipper and to do so you need a wrench. To remove the clipper, you need to remove the two screws that hold it.

Step 4

After removing the brake, you need to remove the iron cover that is placed over the screws of the brake pads and the clip. To do this you will need a flat screwdriver.

The first thing to do is to remove the waste and then loosen the screws that secure the brake pads. It is very important to release two screws. Each brake must be removed completely.

Step 5

The next step is to carefully remove the steam pads.

Not everyone has to replace the brake pads however, if you see that the upholstery is worn and torn you should definitely replace them.

Step 6

And now to the last step, you will need to install your new brakes, which includes the brake pads and tires.

More tips for stubborn brakes that do not bleed

Teenagers and adults will need engine sizes between 125cc to 250cc. These engine sizes can provide very high speeds and it is very important that anyone who rides one has a lot of riding experience.

It is very important that the size of the engine you choose is suitable to the child’s riding abilities. For example, a child aged 6 cannot ride on a 112cc engine, and a child aged 10 cannot ride a 150cc size engine.

Therefore, I personally recommend consulting with someone who is an expert and can pick out the perfect engine size for your child.

Safety

The most important thing you need to check before choosing an ATV for your child is that the ATV you buy is safe for your child to ride.

Some ATV types are safer for your child than other ATVs. Always remember that the smaller the ATV is, the more confident your child will be.

It is very important to know that the more money you spend on the ATV, the stronger and better quality it will be.

Also, lots of parents forget that you should also spend money on protective gear for your child therefore, if your budget is limited I highly recommend you spend more money on protective gear than on your ATV.

I also recommend you put some money to the side for a safety course which will help your child ride more safely.

As a whole, you can get a substantial discount by buying an ATV second-hand. The major drawback is that people tend to beat up their ATVs because they use them to do work around their property. Also, you never know the exact history of an ATV unlike when you buy one brand new.

A good way to think about the used and new ATV market is that it’s similar to the car market. Typically you can get a heavy discount of around 50% compared to buying it new. Whereas, certain models will hold their value and only offer around $2000 off the price for a second-hand model.

For example, a solid new ATV will cost around $15,000, however, after 3 years it can still be worth $12,000.

The main thing to look for when buying a used ATV is the personality of the seller. You can likely tell within a few minutes of talking with the previous owner how well they’ve looked after it.

If they come across as having a bit of an energetic personality then it’s likely that they’re also likely to have had a bit of fun on their ATV. But, fun means going over jumps, riding the clutch, and turning sharply. All of which reduces the lifespan of your ATV.

The other thing to do before buying a used ATV is to get a mechanic to take a look at it and give you an assessment of what things will probably need replacing soon.

How many hours do ATVs last?

Some ATVs have a digital display that shows how many hours it has been running. So, then how many hours does ATV last?

On average an ATV will last 7,000 to 14,000 hours. Generally, an ATV will last 10 to 20 years. A work ATV will be used for approximately 2 hours every day. Which equates to 80 miles (130 km) per day. When you multiply the hours by how long it lasts you get either 7,000 or 14,000 hours.

The thing that determines how long an ATV lasts is how often it is serviced, and how hard the owner rides it. If you take it over jumps it will lower the ATVs lifespan. And if it isn’t serviced regularly it will cause additional wear and tear on the engine. As a result, it can be too costly to repair closer to 10 years rather than 20 years.

Do ATVs hold their value?

An ATV is a significant investment, and a brand new one can cost in the $10,000 and up range. But, after you purchase a brand new ATV does it lose much of its value?

There are some ATV models that hold their value. However, there is a lot of variation across the board. The best resource is to look at historic prices and spend some time watching the market to identify what types of ATVs are holding their value. One example I’ve seen is an ATV that is 3 to 4 years old that kept around 70% of its value.

But, after an ATV gets over a certain age they can be worth a lot less. For example when they are near the end of their life – after 10 to 20 years.

If you’re willing to spend some time watching the new and used ATV market, and what kind of prices they go for you can find some diamonds in the rough.

Are ATVs a good investment?
